Ashmore’s Alternatives investment theme seeks to provide investors with attractive returns across three principal investment strategies; private equity, distressed debt and real estate. These are longer-term strategies which seek to leverage the increasing maturity of Emerging Market economies by identifying and investing in the drivers of these economies. These include an expanding consumer market and middle class with growing energy, housing and infrastructure needs and increased trade between Emerging Market countries leading to less dependence on trade with Developed Markets.

Ashmore’s products within the Alternatives investment theme provide investors with a diversified portfolio of investment opportunities on a country, industry and potentially a currency basis. We are able to benefit from our global presence and a network built over three decades of investing in Emerging Markets.

The theme typically requires a long-term investor commitment of capital, with returns beginning midway through the investment life. Additionally, Ashmore offers a permanent capital vehicle which invests in the above themes, among others and offers daily liquidity on the London Stock Exchange.

Ashmore currently offers this theme on a segregated account basis and via investment in commingled funds (private funds only).
