INTRODUCTION

Ashmore Investment Management Limited ("Ashmore") is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority ("FSA"). Ashmore is incorporated in England and Wales with Registered Office at 61 Aldwych, London, WC2B 4AE, and Registered Number 3344281.

Many of the products referred to in this website constitute "Unregulated Collective Investment Schemes" ("UCIS") for the purposes of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 ("FSMA 2000"), and are not recognised schemes under Section 264 of FSMA 2000. Under UK legislation, UCIS may only be promoted to persons who are sufficiently experienced and sophisticated to understand the risks involved in investing in such schemes, and who satisfy certain other criteria. Accordingly, the information in this website is intended exclusively for persons to whom UCIS may be promoted by virtue of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Promotion of Collective Investment Schemes) (Exemptions) Order 2005 or the rules of the FSA. Such persons include the following categories, as defined in legislation and by the FSA: Professional Clients and Eligible Counterparties, which broadly comprise regulated financial institutions, large pension funds, large corporates, high net worth individuals, sophisticated investors and investment professionals.

The above statement does not apply to Ashmore SICAV and its sub-funds, which are open-ended Luxembourg based funds, recognised under Section 264 of the FSMA 2000 for marketing to persons in the United Kingdom.

Many of the protections provided by the United Kingdom regulatory structure may not apply to investments in Ashmore funds, including access to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and the Financial Ombudsman Service.

If you are in any doubt as to whether you are permitted to invest in any of the Ashmore funds, you should contact your financial adviser who will also be able to discuss the suitability of such an investment with you and who will be able to obtain further information concerning the investments by contacting us on your behalf. Persons resident outside the United Kingdom should consult their professional advisers as to whether they require any consents or need to observe any other formalities before they can invest in the products described in this website. Persons resident outside of the United Kingdom, including but not restricted to the United States of America and Canada, should refer to the offering document of the relevant Ashmore fund for further specific jurisdictional information (in particular, persons resident in the United States of America should refer to the eligibility criteria and the definition of "U.S. Person" in such documentation).

Subscriptions for shares or units in any of the Ashmore funds will only be made on the basis of the current offering document and other formative documentation for the relevant fund.

Nothing contained in this website constitutes or forms part of any offer to sell or buy an investment, or any solicitation of such an offer. Any products or services referred to in this website are subject to the legal and regulatory requirements applicable in the jurisdiction where the investor is resident. Nothing contained in this website constitutes investment advice and information contained herein should not be relied upon when making investment decisions. As a result, you should check the accuracy of such information before relying on it. Ashmore accepts no liability for any damage or loss, including loss of profit, whether direct, indirect or consequential in respect of the use of this website or its contents or any subsequent subscription into an Ashmore fund and whether arising as a result of Ashmore's negligence or otherwise. However, Ashmore does not exclude or restrict any liability it may have to clients under the FSMA 2000 or FSA rules.

RISK WARNINGS

There are significant risks associated with investment in the Ashmore funds outlined in this website. Investment in the UCIS on this website is intended for sophisticated investors who can accept the risks associated with such an investment including a substantial or complete loss of their investment.

Emerging market funds carry risks as well as rewards and you should always bear the following in mind: the value of investments and the income from them may go down as well as up and you may not get back the amount you originally invested; past performance is not necessarily a guide to future performance; emerging markets are volatile and may suffer from liquidity problems; changes in rates of exchange between currencies may cause the value of or income from investments to decrease or increase; and funds which specialise in a particular region or sector are more risky than those which hold a very broad spread of investments. The offering documents or other formative documentation contain more detailed risk warnings relevant to the particular Ashmore fund. The website content contains Ashmore views and opinions which may change without notice and are not intended to be relied upon.

UNSOLICITED CALLS

Over the last year, many companies have become aware that investors have received unsolicited phone calls or correspondence concerning investment matters. Should you be contacted in this way, it may be an example of a 'boiler room’ scam specifically designed to convince you to buy overpriced, untradeable or non-existent shares. Boiler rooms are unauthorised overseas share fraud firms which may use high pressure sales tactics and the names, registration numbers and addresses of firms and individuals authorised by the FSA in an attempt to convince consumers of their legitimacy. Dealing with an unauthorised firm or individual means you will not have access to the complaints procedures of the Financial Ombudsman Service, nor will you be eligible to receive payment under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if things go wrong.

Further information on the operation of boiler room frauds is available by visiting the FSA website at www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk.
